One of the world's most expensive cars is being auctioned off by Christie's and is expected to fetch £6 million. The 1939 Auto Union D-type, single-seater racing car made a brief stopover in London on its way to Paris, where it will be put up for auction. Together with Mercedes-Benz, the German three-litre racer, designed by Ferdinand Porsche, dominated the pre-war motor scene and won the Rheims Grand Prix in 1939.
