Three factory workers have been arrested for stealing hundreds of BMWs and Mercedes cars, piece by piece. Over a period of six years, the suspects smuggled millions of car parts out of the plant in Munich, by hiding them in their clothes and bags, before clocking off their shifts. The parts were then stored and reassembled at a nearby warehouse before being sold in eastern Europe. "We found their stash but there was just so much there that we still haven't been able to clear out the warehouse," said Peter Breitner, the spokesman for Munich's organised crime department.

Bruce Willis has announced that the fourth Die Hard film is ready to start shooting and that he hopes it will be in cinemas by next year. The actor, speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, said: "We're as close as we've ever got to getting Die Hard 4 started. It won't be called Die Hard 4 but that will be the story. Hopefully it will be out next summer." The film was delayed after Hurricane Katrina, as the original script involved an oil tanker explosion that sent huge waves flooding New Orleans.
