Oscar-winner Russell Crowe has reportedly been dumped from director Baz Luhrmann's new $150 million film epic in favor of Heath Ledger. The Gladiator star was set to play Nicole Kidman's lover later this year in the film set around the Japanese bombing of Darwin, Australia, in 1942. Crowe has been accused of demanding script approval before signing on for the film. While Crowe was procrastinating, the film's producers reportedly told Luhrmann to find another actor. The director then met with Ledger several times. A source tells the New York Post, "Baz liked him and offered him the movie. Then Crowe came back to Luhrmann and said he'd forgo the script approval and wanted to do the film, but they told him it was too late - to buzz off." A spokeswoman for Luhrmann declined to confirm or deny the report saying, "Baz doesn't publicly comment on his casting processes and currently he has made no final decision on the film, who is in it or when or where it will be shot."

HMV is launching what it claims to be the first service allowing customers to buy CDs and DVDs on their mobiles, via text message. The new service Txt2Buy will launch after testing is completed in three months' time. Customers can text their choice to a short-code number, after which they will receive a mobile Internet link to a secure site where they can enter credit card and delivery details. Gideon Lask, Head of Internet at HMV, said: "We have recognised that our customers like to shop across a number of channels. We need to become a true multi-channel retailer."
The biggest-selling single of the year, "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley, has been taken off the shelves as its creators are worried that the public will get sick of it, or label the band a one-hit wonder. The American hip-hop duo have topped the charts for nine weeks, longer than any tune since 1994, when Wet Wet Wet's "Love Is All Around" took the top spot for a record 15 weeks. A spokesman for Warner Music said: "'Crazy' has been a unique phenomenon, but we don't want to kill the song by getting people bored with it."
